“The supreme accomplishment is to blur the line between work and play.” – Arnold J. Toynbee
For many of us, work is bothersome. Nod if you agree! The trouble is that we’ve established work to be dull, tough, recurring and taxing. What you have to find (or revive in a few cases) is the idea of turning your work into play. It’s to a degree that has altered my lifestyle, and hope the lives of many others like me. Work ought not to be mind numbing – it can be moving, something you dear most, an opening for your imagination and creativity. Overall, it can be play.
Life is what you make of it. It can be grind, or it can be having fun. Or, something else – totally. I’ve find the idea of work as play, typically as I’ve turn into my own boss (i.e. entrepreneur), and can single out what I fancy to work on, and fix my own schedule. Therefore, I work on things that enliven me, which I’m avid about, and it’s sort of cool, you know. If some work is too tough to handle, I either neglect it or unearth an approach to construct it play. Consequently, I am ending up work stronger than ever, but it’s stirring and fun too. I transfer myself into my work and can’t hang around to do it.
Reversing work into play doesn’t imply you don’t put yourself out, or that you by no means do tedious jobs. Have you ever played a sport? You may experience that you toil as strong as anyone does when you’re playing or just working out – but it seems like a breeze, as you’re having a blast doing it.
So there are a few key elements I am able to make out in my entrepreneurial journey that can help turn your work into play…
1. Have some Freewill:

If you fix your own agenda and are up to work on or gather about what you’re keen on and eager about, it can be play. If some one keeps informing you what and when to do, you won’t be as thrilled or involved or propelled.
2. Be Enthusiastic:

Also, pursue what you desire. Don’t be reserved. If something isn’t appealing, advance to something that is. Don’t impose things.
3. Turn Yourself into a Team Player:

Although I like to fool around with myself, playing (read ‘working’) with others can be so much more enjoyable at times. When the occasion originates, fill matters that are outside the reach of your present position. Demonstrate people you are keen to put yourself out, discover more and have fun in progress. When a task given to you (or taken by you) does go erroneous, own it up. Never try to swing errors to another one. Most essentially, you should be open to reactions. By no means, dismiss or complain about criticism on your work or act. Instead, take some deeds to perk it up and give credit to others when and where it is due. Whether you’re a team leader or a member, be a team player! That’s half the fun itself.
4. Let Flow Yourself into Work:

You can hop from one thing to another, and that’s okay, but you might never achieve whatever thing that way. I realize that when I am keyed up and really let flow / transfer myself into a task, I can conquer a lot and have a load of fun doing it.
5. Expose Yourself:

I believe we’re genetically coded to crave to appear good in the presence of others (esp. our peers). When you’re going to do something extraordinary, it’s naturally exciting and fun then. So when an untamed challenge (read ‘work’) exists before you, grab it instantly and show your talent to others. By this way, you don’t consider your work as a work, but as a jolly good play.
There are other keys of turning your work into play existing, but these are sufficient to get you on track.
Some Extra Opinions / Requests:

To Bosses: Are you burdening your workforce to do backbreaking type work? Do you have power over whatever and when they do it? Stop! Grant them some choices and control over their work. Let them to follow things they’re engrossed in. When people can follow things they’re eager about, when they can turn work into play, remarkable things occur which is good for you and company.
To Employees: Is your work too demanding? Twist it into play (with the keys mentioned above)! If you are trapped in a job where you utterly cannot turn work into play, search somewhere else. There’s more out there. We all know how difficult to switch jobs these days. If you’re talented and smart enough, it won’t be of much hassle though.

Nonetheless, it has changed my life into something fantastic – granted me to make / achieve a lot than ever before and I love every minute of it. Although all the keys mentioned in this post looking very basic, the implementation part – the mindset that requires doing all this will be tough somehow. Nevertheless, you’ll get it right as you practice more.

Nice Article! Just an FYI, I love your site! What I have found that makes my work more enjoyable is speaking up! If you aren’t happy with something speaking up can actually help.
Hi Susan, thanks for dropping by to comment. Glad you love my site! Yap, ‘speaking your mind’ in the organization is one of those essential keys I forgot to mention. The confident person is someone who clarifies themselves to others (whether to boss, or co-workers) and they will do so in a way that is not distasteful.
This is a very interesting article! Thanks for sharing! You are lucky that you are your own boss! I am a teacher and I report to my team leader but I still enjoy my work because I believe that I can make a difference! I try my best to be a team player and I am very good at showing off at what I am good at: ICT. And most of all, I love my job!

Hi Jenny, thanks for the comments & props about the post. Well, I am lucky to be boss indeed! ~ but there are many difficulties which I can’t complaint about though. Oh, yes! ‘Loving your job’ is the vital mindset to motivate yourself & enjoy the job. You can surely work better. As Confucius said, “Choose a job you love, and you will never have to work a day in your life.” For those who couldn’t get the job they love, loving the job they’re in is the only way to enjoy it.
