Google Reader is one of the best “web-based real-time website/blog feed reader (or) RSS/Atom aggregator” out there that keeps up with your choice of sites and continually checks it for new content whether it updates ten times daily / once daily / weekly or even monthly – basically whenever, you can be sure that you won’t miss a thing. It’s like a personalized Gmail email inbox for the entire web, well… user interface looks similar too.

Beginner’s Stuff:

If you’re already using Google Reader well and truly, you can safely skip this part of the post and move to the next page.

1. You can access Google Reader at : www.google.com/reader/ – either by using your existing Gmail (even any other Google Services account) or “Create an new account”.

2. Once you login for the first time, your Welcome page looks like this (Click to enlarge):

3. Now click on “Add a subscription” (top left corner – under Google Reader logo) and enter your favorite website/blog’s URL address (or) paste RSS/Atom feed (or) even search term to find relevant feeds – and click “Add”.

4. Now, you’ve subscribed to your favorite website/blog successfully (For example, to my blog – arkarthick.com). Whenever there is a update, you can find in this window – On left sidebar, under “Subscriptions”. (Click to enlarge the picture)

5. You can see the updates either in “Expanded” or “List” view. Moreover, you can categorize your subscriptions in different folders. When you’ve subscribed for plenty of blogs/websites, you need to put it under different folders to unclutter.

That’s it. Google Reader newbie stuff is over. Now, let’s move our focus to the all important “Sharing to Twitter” part.

    Used Reader2Twitter for some time. But then I switched to Hootsuite, that manages several RSS to feed several social networks. Moreover, I do selective (only some news) Twitter feeding from GReader playing with tags sharing.
